Hi everyone! I was interviewed on the podcast Drinking with Authors (run by the amazing 4 Horsemen Publications). They’re a refreshingly great publishing house and talking to them about writing, stories, sci-fi, food, and paranormal creatures was a lot of fun. I drink Aviation Gin and discover (to my horror) that Twilight Vampires are underrated. The more you know!

Check out both parts of the interview in Episodes 316 and 317 (the 1st is the full interview, and the 2nd is a lightning round of quick answers and fast asides) wherever you listen to podcasts.

Want to know all of my hot takes about sandwich shops? They’re the hottest of hot takes, and you can find them on Mourning Moot, which devotes itself to short rants about rant-worthy subjects. Sandwich shops are many things, and they are definitely worthy of my rant!

From Morning Moot: *For each moot, we generate a cover image using DALL·E, an AI art platform that generates images using natural language processing. This image on the right was generated using the title, 'Sandwich Shops are Hell’ in the style of Edward Hopper, Chris's artist of choice.*

McSweeney’s Internet Tendency has just published my 2nd piece about Pumpkin Spice Lattes. I’m well on my way to achieving a life goal: becoming the official McSweeney’s Pumpkin Spice Latte writer, and one of the great PSL Theorists of all time! I really do think PSLs are worth considering. They’ve been discussed to death for years but it seems there’s always something new or something more to say.

I see PSLs as a signifier more than a drink. Though technically a beverage, they exist in the realm of meaning, not nourishment, not even body. They’re akin to holiday decorations or umbrellas in tropical drinks, totally divorced from their conceptual intention, existing to express images and meanings more than flavor.

My current piece isn’t about any of that, though. It’s about demonic influence. It’s called I’ll Drink this Pumpkin Spice Latte Before Labor Day, but Only Because Demons are Making Me. I hope you enjoy!
